THE WINE STOREHOUSE OF WINE MAKING
Since 2008, the two above-ground buildings that make up our wine cellar designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel have been used for harvesting, grape ripening and bottling. Their position in the vineyard and their semi-spherical architecture evoke the greenhouse and agricultural sheds that can be seen on farms in the south of France. The two parts, each 10 metres high, are made of corrugated steel sheets. One, smaller, is open on one side which houses the machinery for manual sorting and pressing, the other, larger, closed by a veiled sunscreen glass for bottling and storage of its equipment. One, smaller, is open on one side which houses the machinery for manual sorting and pressing, the other, the larger, closed by a veiled sunscreen glass for bottling and storage of its equipment In the basement, 17 meters underground, there is a large vat room with steel walkways that distribute access to the stainless steel tanks at their upper closure. The central role of gravity in parallel with technical innovations allows us to establish a wine production that is loyal to the specificities of the La Coste terroir. This exceptional work plays a key role in the overall architectural project of Castle La Coste.
1:00am – Restaurant in Villa La Coste en Provence (Drinks not included)
The Gastronomy of the Lacoste Villa by Gerald Passeda offers refined menus to you harmonizes some with the seasons, created starting from fresh products, as a majority of the area and raised in the respect of nature.
The challenge is daunting: “to respect the place, to adapt while remaining myself, in an inspiring environment. Show another facet of my cooking in a sustainable culinary happening! »
explains the Chief with a smile. Between the Sainte Victoire and the edge of the Luberon, the foie gras plunges into a seaweed broth, the lobster is in love with the black pudding. Far from sauces, juices and extractions are quintessential:
extraction of black olive and juice of brandade to emphasize the fishing of the day, green olive juice to raise the lamb with the shoulder cooked on embers. Olives, lamb, poultry, grass: the landscape of the back-country of Provence is in the plate.
The Domaine’s vegetable garden provides a large part of the vegetables used, the scrubland takes care of the wild herbs and the honey, produced on site, slips into an ice cream and pollen cookies.
3:00pm – Visit Gallery Art Castle Duration 1h30 or Spa
The CENTER Of ART OF TADAO ANDO
Composed entirely of imposing bay windows, one of the wings of this “V” houses the reception area and the bookshop while the second wing includes the restaurant along the waterfront and facing the vineyards.
The silky concrete walls with Tadao Ando’s unique appearance are dotted with conical punches organized in the same proportions as Japanese tatamis. His sculptural use of this material creates strong geometric lines, framed perspectives and a variety of reflections throughout the day.
The interaction between the interior and exterior spaces is to be observed throughout the building and its integration into nature is perfectly marked by the colonnade disappearing into the vineyards in front of the Art Centre.
“What I have tried to achieve here, because of Cézanne’s presence in Aix, is to create a new work that is close to nature. “explains Tadao Ando. “I wanted to capture the same spirit, very humble, of Cézanne’s paintings. »
7:30pm – Cocktail and private visit Les Carrières de lumières Van Goth the starry night Baux-de-Provence (1h15)
An ambulation in the largest masterpieces of Van Gogh!
Les Carrieres of Light honours the works of the famous artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) who painted during the last ten years of his life and has painted more than 2000 paintings, now scattered throughout the world. On the 7000 m² of the Carrières, this new visual and sound creation retraces the intense life of the artist fascinated by the warm and colourful colours of Provence.
The clouds, suns and portraits of Van Gogh’s greatest masterpieces come to life on walls more than 15 metres high and reveal the artist’s unique style. The exhibition evokes Van Gogh’s oversized, chaotic and poetic inner world through his most emblematic paintings, from the Starry Night (1889) to the Sunflowers (1888) and his famous Bedroom painted in Arles in 1889.
